Select The Right Barn Door Hardware
May 10th 2017
As you shop for modern barn doors for your home, you should also consider the rolling door hardware you are going to use. A sliding modern door becomes the centerpiece of any room, so selecting barn door hardware is an integral portion of your purchase. The hardware chosen should accentuate this statement piece.
Basic Hardware Options
We have five options for barn door hardware. All of our hardware options are available in high quality powder coated steel in black finish with two of them also available in stainless steel. These BarnCraft hardware kits in Gage (also available in stainless steel), Slade (stainless steel option available), Waggoner, Philmont and Royal designs perfectly complement our collection of rolling doors. Each one of these hardware kits includes:
- Three rail lengths available: Choice of 79-3/4”, 90”, and 100”
- Rollers with ball bearing nylon wheels,
- Stoppers,
- Screws and nuts,
- Anti-jump discs,

- Installation guide.
Handle Sets & Locks
With seven different styles of barn door hardware available, you’ll want to consider the overall look of the room where the rolling door will be installed. If you are also going to buy a handle set for your modern barn doors, envision how every piece will look together. If you’ve designed your home with a contemporary look, the stainless steel Gage hardware kit along with the Metro handles might be the best fit. Conversely, if your home has a more country, rustic feel to it, the Waggoner hardware kit and the Monterey pull handle could be the perfect accents.
Depending on where you are installing your sliding modern doors, you may also want to consider buying a privacy lock. Specially designed for the BarnCraft rolling doors, the privacy lock is made of premium quality steel, powder coated for durability. The lock is available with Black Finish or stainless steel.
Additional Options for Functionality
All of our rolling door hardware kits feature Quiet-Glide wheels. Our roller wheels are produced using a high durometer nylon, which allows your barn door to glide open and close without the noise of a traditional rolling door. Many of our customers also purchase the Soft-Close, an impressive addition to any rolling door installation. Hidden from view, this mechanism ensures a quieter and safer operation of your rolling door by automatically slowing the opening or closing action. No more slamming or jamming. Perfect for homes with children, elderly, or those who want the extra ease of use.
For those who are buying a double door or quad door installation for their homes, other accessories to consider are the Double Door Rail Connection and the Bypass Bracket Kit. Consider adding a Rail Connector to your order of double doors so the two rails are seamlessly joined together, end to end. Available in black and stainless steel finish, this Rail Connector gives the appearance of a more polished, harmonious design as the two rails appear as one continuous track.
If you would really love double rolling doors in your home but you don’t have the space, the Bypass Bracket Kit can help you. The Bypass door installation may be used when there is insufficient wall space to the right and/or the left of the wall opening for a traditional barn door installation. A double bypass installation uses two rolling door tracks instead of one. The second door track is cantilevered in front of the first track. So the doors roll in front and behind of each other.
Most importantly when selecting the right barn door hardware, have fun with the decision. Decorating your home should be a joyous activity, rather than annoying chore.
