Oct 9th 2018
Interior design comes in all shapes and sizes. You can move and rearrange furniture, paint walls, change your look completely, even remodel entire rooms or homes. Or without blowing the budget, you can make small changes and come out with a whole new look.
For example, the addition of a barn door is a great way to change the look and feel of any room without making a major investment of time and money. Dramatically change a room by easily installing a BarnCraft Barn Door Series Plank or Mid Rail Plank Barn Door, no remodel required. They come with a variety of features and finishes to match any decor.
The BarnCraft Barn Door Series features premium rolling barn doors in Rustic Knotty Alder and BarnWood Knotty Alder. They come assembled or unassembled, finished or unfinished, and can be combined with various hardware options including pull handles, rollers and a privacy lock to create unique interior doors for your home.
Get especially creative and order two of the same doors and hardware to make a double door for a dramatic look. Use these to close off part of an open plan space like an open office, dining or guest area you might wish to make more private. There are so many possibilities with the addition of an easy-to-hang, multi-featured BarnCraft Plank or Mid Rail Plank Barn Door.
Finishing Guidelines:
Going the unfinished route? Not to worry, we have everything you need to guide you along the way. First, we suggest you choose a quality wood stain such as Minwax, Behr, Sherwin Williams, or Cabot.
At the BarnDoorz factory, we use water-based stains, but you can use water, oil, or solvent-based stain systems based on your preference. When painting your door, we suggest using a primer coat and a compatible finish coat. For best results, sand all surfaces between coats of primer and finish.
Be sure to confirm that the top, bottom and side edges of the door are finished correctly after the door is trimmed for installation. Before installing your new barn door, allow 24-48 hours for the door to adapt to your area’s general humidity and temperature. Inspect your door thoroughly before installing. If you notice a problem, notify BarnDoorz for further instructions. Follow the Storage & Handling guidelines below prior to finishing.
Storage and Handling
- Before installing your new barn door, allow 24-48 hours for the door to adapt to your area’s general humidity and temperature.
- Always store doors flat in a clean, dry, well-ventilated room. Protect them from dirt, water and if stored for long periods of time, seal with a high-quality sealer or primer.
- Do not expose doors to abnormal heat, direct sunlight, direct moisture, extreme dryness or humidity.
- Deliver doors to your building site after plaster and cement are completely dry and avoid exposure to air conditioned or heated environments prior to finishing.
- If storing on the job site and to avoid moisture absorption, be sure to seal all ends and edges with a wood sealer.
- To prevent oils and dirt from penetrating the wood grains, always handle doors with clean or gloved hands.
- Always lift and carry (do not drag) doors to prevent damage to surface.
